The 1.6 liter, 16-valve, OHC, transverse 4-cylinder engine in the Cooper S Convertible also features reinforced valves, piston cooling jets and an engine oil cooler. And with the a built-in supercharger, you'll feel a boost in power the instant you push the pedal. How much power? We reckon about 168 horses worth of asphalt-grinding giddy-up-and-go to be exact.
This cast-iron engine also provides extremely low noise, vibration and harshness levels and is highly reliable, starting unaided in temperatures as low as -13 degrees Fahrenheit. The engine also features bore/stroke measurements of 3.03/3.38 inches to balance high and low speed engine performance.
